The Woot Bag of Crap arrived last Saturday, and it was indeed tasty! Got the obligatory "instajacks" (a powerline based phone jack extension system; didn't come with a base unit though), a LED clip light, a red backpack, and best of all: a refurbished Creative Zen Vision:M mp3 player. It's way cool, and works well. Yay! So a good pickup for $8.
Fri, Jun. 20th, 2008, 04:09 pm the top of the woot.com mountain!
good hello all! i've managed to order the most coveted thing that shows up on the woot.com - the Random Crap, aka the Bag of Crap, the Blushing over Compliments, the Bandolier of Carrots, et cetera. sometimes these appear on their own as the Woot o' the day (which is how Woot usually does business), sometimes, like today, they appear as part of a "woot-off" (when they sell items one after another, putting up another one as things sell out).
how it works is like this: for $8 (including shipping), you get three "craps," or "junk in our warehouse we can't sell on its own for whatever reason." sometimes you get pure junk, sometimes you get something kind of nice. oft times, you get a bit of both. to get an idea of what i might get, just pop over to da you tube, and do a search for "woot bag of crap."
when it arrives (within the next few weeks), we'll see what we won. should be fun! :) makes me feel better for not getting those dippy looking VoIP phones that came up a few times previously. (they were ones that plugged right into your computer, as opposed to your network, which would be infinitely better.)
Once upon a time, I had gotten this catnip plant, and planted it near the rock wall. Over time, it got huge, and the cats started to take notice. Here, we see Bailey cat, lounging next to the catnip plant. Later on, he chewed on it a little and enjoyed the catnip rush. Fresh catnip is of course lovely.
I'm on the road again! Went to Pacific Grove for a bit, then on my way home, I stopped by the Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve, where there's this funky island called Hummingbird Island, which not only has birds and what not, but mysterious art. More pics later!
annarama in particular has mentioned to me that she enjoys pics of the cats here... so here is a pic of the very elusive Jette. he's a bit semi-feral, so he is very skittish, and won't let us get near him. but more recently, especially with the arrival of sammy and bailey, he's mellowed out some, which is very nice. so i was able to get this pic of him. i think it's the first he's been on the lj & flickah. enjoy!

So not too long ago, I acquired a musubi press: a device used to make spam musubis. :) This is a sushi-like dish that is quite popular in Hawaii. So I've been doing research on the correct way of making it:
Got the Spam - looking for the rice and nori. Got the Teriyaki sauce around here somewhere, too.

once upon a time, about a year and a half ago, annarama posted something about these dunkin donuts commercials, which came with authentic They Might Be Giants music! well, evidentally, dunkin donuts has decided to buy some national cable airtime, and thusly, i've been seeing the "doing things is what i like to do!" commercial a LOT lately. it's stuck in my head. which kinda sucks for two reasons:
there isn't a dunkin donuts franchise, as far as we can tell, in the entire state o' california.
and i heard their coffee is only sorta good.
oh, well. at least the commercial is catchy!

Cindy the cat went to the vet again because she just didn't seem right. Her blood work came back all normal, so this implied her kidneys were okay - but the vet kept her overnight for observation. In the morning, it was determined that maybe she had a sensitive stomach or something along those lines, so the vet put her on a new food; foods meant for cats with gastroenteral problems that are easy to digest. here she's munching on some purina veterinary diet EN, which is hi-protein and lo-carb. plus if the other cats munch on it, it's not bad for them. ;) I'm going to look for some other foods for the other cats to eat that will not set cindy off, too.
This is wacky. :) It's good to see customary gender roles get mixed up. It's very refreshing. (Despite what kinda silly fashion things Japanese young men might try to do.)

i've done this on my journal, and you should too. the console looks a bit intimidating but all you gotta do is copy and paste the stuff quoted above and it'll be good. :)

Tue, Aug. 14th, 2007, 09:54 pm Los gatos de la revolución
good hello all!
so we're looking for some good flea/tick treatment for the cats. we're looking at either frontline plus or revolution - frontline plus handles ticks, and we've pulled a lot of those off the cats, but revolution handles ear mites, which still plague sammy cat. has anyone tried either of these, or another flea preventative? input is most welcomed. thanks!
